| The members
of the CARE Coalition are committed to supporting doctors, hospitals,
health care providers and all West Virginians in the fight for medical
liability reform. The lack of such reform is decreasing access to
health care, driving many doctors out of West Virginia and increasing
health care costs.
The CARE Coalition
is working to put the interests of patients first and ensuring
access to health care. Our efforts include highlighting gaps in
the medical liability system and encouraging West Virginia citizens
and the entire health care community to work together to ensure
access to health care.
There will likely
be opposition from those who seek to maintain the status quo in
today's lawsuit lottery. To overcome this challenge, we must work
together-doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, volunteer and community
groups, and the entire health care community-to highlight the
need for reform and the importance of putting patients first by
ensuring access to health care.
This coalition has
come together as a group of diverse interests to urge the Governor
and state legislature to address the medical liability crisis.
